KC CON 2009 is over and we want to thank everyone for attending. We also wish to thank IPMS Great Plains for working with us once again and and cohosting the event. The cooperation of the two clubs makes for two very successful contests. It also gave the armor builders a chance to look at some very high quality models from other interest areas and those builders got to view all the armor entries. It was great being able to once again spend a day with our car, aircraft, ship and sci-fi fellow modelers. Many modelers took advantage of the cohosting to enter models in both shows and the awards ceremonies were conducted concurrently.

This year, we had 63 entries from 30 modelers. Quantity of models was certainly down from last year's record numbers, but given the state of the economy, we were pleased with the showing. Model shows are only as good as the people attending and the quality of the work judged was very high. It included some very good work from two junior modelers -- so good, in fact, that the judges had a tough time picking one over the other for the Best Junior Entry award. This is what the hobby and shows are really about -- bringing new blood into the hobby and, while the numbers were low, it is still good when we attract the younger generation away from the game consoles for a day.
